LACE Classes in South Central District

LACE 301 – Pastoral Care – Rev Janet Carden
Monday August 23, 2021 – 6-9PM
This class is an excellent opportunity for Lay Speakers who need a refresher course every 3 years to maintain their certified status as well as for Lay Pastors who need an annual refresher course.  It will be offered hybrid so anyone wishing to join via Zoom will be able to do so.  Face to face locations will be determined by registration with at least 2 sites available across the district.

Class requirements will include purchase of an assigned book to be read prior to the class and attendance either by Zoom or face to face.  Format lecture and class discussion.
 
LACE 101 – Basic
This class is the first class for those beginning their Lay Servant journey.  If you feel that God has been calling you to serve the church in a greater capacity this is a great place to start.  This course will help to familiarize you with different areas of ministry where you may serve the church and help you to briefly explore each one.  This course is required as part of the LACE certification curriculum.
  It will be offered hybrid so you can choose to attend through Zoom from your home or face to face at one of the locations to be determined by the class registration.  There will be 5 – 2 hour sessions on 5 consecutive Monday evenings.  You must attend these sessions in order to receive credit for the course.  Sessions include

Monday September 27, 2021 – 6-8PM – Caring – Linda Sparks
Monday October 4, 2021 – 6-8PM – Communicating – Gina Lyon
Monday October 11, 2021 – 6-8PM – Into the World – TBA
 
LACE 201 – Preach – Rev Todd Love
Monday October 25, 2021 – 6-9PM
Monday November 1, 2021 – 6-8 pm Ministry Presentations

This class offers the basics of sermon preparation.  Class will include a lecture/discussion session as well as a follow up session for ministry presentations.  This course is required for those desiring to become Certified Lay Speakers.
